Kidney disease not only causes severe suffering for patients but also places a heavy burden on their families, who often struggle financially as they spend all available resources on treatment and care. In response to these challenges, the Rotary Club of Metro Yangon (RCMY) has meaningfully launched the “Creating Lasting Impact” initiative for the 2025–2026 Rotary Year.
Through this initiative, RCMY is actively working on both treatment support and preventive healthcare measures. One of the key focus areas is supporting dialysis services at the “Karunarpala Dialysis Center (Myashwepin)” to ensure that kidney patients can access essential treatment as early as possible. In addition, strong emphasis is being placed on preventive care and health education, with the goal of reducing the incidence of kidney disease within the next five years.
Dialysis plays a critical role in sustaining the lives of kidney patients. When patients receive regular dialysis treatment—typically twice a week—they are able to maintain a relatively normal and active lifestyle, and in many cases, continue contributing to their families. Without proper dialysis, toxic waste and excess fluid accumulate in the body, leading to severe complications and life-threatening conditions. Therefore, supporting dialysis services is not only about saving individual lives but also about restoring stability and hope to entire families.
This meaningful initiative was made possible through the dedicated efforts and support of multiple contributors, including the Chief Patron of Karunarpala, specialist doctors and medical professionals, the Karunarpala Foundation, RCMY members, generous donors, and the management team and staff of Myanmar Imperial College (MIC), who provided venue and hospitality support. Special appreciation is also extended to all documentation and media teams for capturing and sharing these important moments.
RCMY continues to commit itself to impactful community service through sustainable healthcare support and awareness programs. Through “Creating Lasting Impact,” the organization aims to strengthen kidney care services, promote early prevention, and improve the overall health and well-being of communities in Myanmar.
